Bridgend Nature Keepers

Ramblings of a South Wales Volunteer & Willow Weaver

What do you do on a rainy day? Take a jaunt around Bridgend County to search for the Bridgend Nature Keepers, that’s what.

The Nature Keepers are guardians of the story of the land, inspired by the Bryngarw Keepers quest lunched earlier this year.

Carved from sustainable Welsh oak by the wonderfully talented Dai Edwards, the keepers are a beautiful addition to the landscape and will help the community reconnect with their natural environment.

I just under 2 hours I managed to find the Keepers of the Beach, Lake, Dunes, Frog Pond, Past & River. They are all so different and beautiful and well worth seeking out.

Lambing 2012

Well here it is again “lambing time” the weather has been kind so far and things going well with the occasional midnight run to the Vet’s and poorly lamb brought in on the heated porch floor for a little TLC.

The sheep are all scanned and grouped according to singles, twins and triplets and we feed them silage ,topped up with cake (sheep cake a blend of cereal, soya and minerals). The twins need more energy than the singles to produce healthy lambs and plenty of milk
